The dynamics of football administration in Ghana takes another turn as key players in the sport gather for a two-day education on the use of the web-based transfer matching system designed by Fifa.
Fifa’s transfer matching system is a web-based data entry program used in the execution of player transfers between two professional clubs.
Local participants drawn from the domestic premier league by the Ghana Football Association are undergoing training over the use of the web-based program in Accra which will replace the existing paper-based documentation of player transfers.
According to Juan Martin, a Fifa expert leading the Ghanaian participants through the session, the transfer matching system will facilitate the movement of players between two clubs with the program registering a copy of the transaction with the sport governing body.
Input to the program will be made by both clubs involved in the transfer and the date entered will have to match.
Transfer issues involving clubs, agents and players have always sparked controversy as some have exploited the current procedure. But FA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi believes the football family will benefit greatly from this program.
“The use of this program will certainly cut down on the bureaucratic processes involved in transfer done manually.
“It will cut down on the manual functions and will certainly be more reliable than the procedure we use now.
“It will also curb the inconsistencies in the transfer business,” said GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi, opening the session on Thursday morning.
The proposal to introduce the transfer matching system was taken by the Task Force "For the Good of the Game" set up by the 2005 Fifa Congress in Marrakech.
The transfer matching system was piloted in January 2008 and has proven to be success.
