Ghana up by four places on the ranking table

Ghana has improved four places up in the latest FIFA World rankings released today.

The four-time African champions now occupy the 43rd position from the 47th place it held in October.

The Black Stars now have a total of 659 points after gaining 27 more from the last ranking in September.

In the African confederation ranking, Ghana, host of next year’s Nations Cup are now placed 8th, improving two places up on the table.

Nigeria remains Africa’s best side as they sit comfortably at the top followed by Cameroon.

Two of Ghana’s group opponents for the Cup of Nations are placed within the top ten teams on the continents ranking table. Guinea, who would play Ghana in the opening CAN 2008 game are third while Morocco are placed 6th.

The third group opponent of Ghana, Namibia are placed at 33rd having dropped eight places down.

Argentina, still top the rankings, Brazil are second with Italy holding onto to the third position.
