The Ghana Premier League has returned and debutants, Bolga All Stars have been given a reality check of what lies ahead in the top flight.

Playing their first-ever Ghana Premier League match, Bolga All Stars' historic afternoon was ruined; going down 3:1 to a marauding Ebusua Dwarfs side which clearly indicated its unreadiness for pleasantries right from the start.

Joseph Esso fired Dwarfs ahead in the 11th minute - a goal which turned out to be the first goal of the 2016/2017 Ghana Premier League season. Bolga All Stars held on till the break and they were let off the hook right after recess when Mohammed Osman missed a penalty for Dwarfs.

Right after the miss, Issahaku Wahid scored an historic equaliser for Bolga All Stars. He etched his name in the history books with that goal, as it was All Stars' first ever Premier League goal.

Nine minutes later in the 60th minute, Osman Mohammed atoned for his earlier penalty miss by scoring to restore Dwarfs' lead, before Albert Hammond sealed the win with an 89th minute goal for Dwarfs.

In Kumasi, Asante Kotoko came from behind to beat Liberty Professionals 2:1 at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Liberty stunned the Porcupine Warriors when Benjamin Eshun put them ahead in the 36th minute. But New player, Yakubu Mohammed struck twice in three minutes in the second half to put Kotoko in control.

His first came through the spot kick in the 58th minute, and he scored again in the 61st minute to give Kotoko all the three points.

Tema Youth made a winning return to the Ghana Premier League with a 2:1 defeat of Berekum Chelsea. Tema You took a comfortable 2:0 lead by the 35th minute through Joseph Ogoe and Joseph Paintsil.

Chelsea pulled a goal back through Godfred Adjei with about 30 minutes to play, but Tema Youth held on tightly for their win.

In Tarkwa, Bernard Ofori's 21st minute strike was enough to give Medeama a win over WAFA, while Aduana Stars beat Ashantigold 1:0 in Dormaa Ahenkro through Derek Sasraku's waited till the 80th-minute goal.

Inter Allies will host Accra Hearts of Oak at the El Wak Stadium in Accra on Monday afternoon.
