Aduana Stars have extended their lead on the Ghana Premier League table their dramatic win over Inter Allies on Saturday before Asante Kotoko dropped vital points in Tamale.
Aduana, who went into week six level on points with Kotoko, kicked off the week in a tricky encounter with Inter Allies at El Wak in Accra, which they won in injury time.
Aduana came from a goal down to win after Isaac Twumasi gave Inter Allies the lead before Nathaniel Asamoah equalised for Aduana. With the goal appearing to end in a draw, Derrick Sasraku grabbed a dramatic winner in injury time to give Aduana a three-point lead over Asante Kotoko.
Kotoko needed to win on Sunday against Bolga All Stars in Tamale to keep pace with the leaders, but the Porcupine Warriors could only draw.
Yakubu Mohammed scored again for Kotoko to hand them the lead, but All Stars grabbed a late equalizer to deny Kotoko a win, leaving them two points behind Aduana.
Bechem United maintained their third place on the table and also closed in ON Asante Kotoko with an emphatic 4:2 drubbing of Ashantigold in Obuasi. Alfred Nelson and Akoto Danso gave the visitors a 2:0 lead but Ashgold hit back through Joshua Tijani and Kofi Owusu to make it 2:2.
Bechem were however not done, and Ahmed Toure scored a brace to restore their two-goal lead to hand Bechem United a remarkable away lead. The defeat marked a second successive heavy defeat for Ashantigold, following their 5:1 defeat to Berekum Chelsea last week.
Defending Champions Wa All Stars also registered an impressive 1:0 away win over Medeama in Tarkwa. Kelvin Andoh was the hero, as he grabbed the only goal of the match.
In Dansoman, Liberty Professionals came from a goal down to beat Ebusua Dwarfs 2:1. Nicholas Ghana gave Dwarfs the lead, but Samuel Sarfo equalised before Emmanuel Sarpong grabbed a late winner for the Scientific Soccer Lads.
WAFA also came from two goals down to beat Tema Youth 2:1 in Sogakope. Joseph Paintsil gave Tema Youth the lead but they could not hold on to it as Bukari Ibrahim equalised for the home side. Majeed Ashmeru scor d the winning goal for WAFA.
In Elmina, Sharks were also 2:1 winners, beating Berekum Chelsea. The Premier League debutants took a commanding 2:0 lead through Joseph Mensah and Tettey Nartey, before Justice Annan pulled one back for Chelsea.
In the Accra derby, Hearts of Oak defeated Great Olympics 2:1, to leave their city rivals bottom of the table and without a win so far in the league.
Paul Acquah opened the score for Hearts but Benjamin Arthur equalised for Great Olympics. Defender Inusah Musah ensured Hearts took all the three points by slotting in the winner for the Phobians.
