Asamoah Gyan is anticipating a tough second season with Al-Ain after setting the United Arab Emirates league alight in his debut campaign.

The Ghanaian last week completed a permanent move from Sunderland to Al-Ain, where he had been on loan since September 2011. He committed his long-term future to them by signing a four-year deal.

And his move to the UAE saw the Ghanaian finish as top scorer after hitting 22 goals for Al-Ain last season and helped them to secure the league title.

"Moving to the UAE was a bit controversial but I was able to prove what I am capable of doing," Gyan said.

"My team won the league, I was the best player, top scorer and I had a perfect season.

Gyan, 26, helped Al-Ain win their first title in eight years and is aware that expectancy is growing ahead of the new season.

"This season will be a bit difficult for me. Most of the defenders will be very strong on me. My tactic this season is just to be fit and the quality will be there and it will show."
