Asamoah Gyan is excited about the prospect of having to play for the African Nations Cup title after Ghana reached the finals on Thursday, beating Nigeria.

The Black Stars beat Nigeria 1-0 at the November 11 Stadium to head into Sunday's 2010 climax in Luanda.

Ghana, four-time champions will now play Egypt who won the other semi-final match over Algeria in the finals of the competition, 18 years after the last Black Stars side played at that stage of the continental tournament.

And Gyan, who scored the decisive goal to set up the final date with the Pharaohs is beside himself with the progress made by the Black Stars who have gotten this far given the injury crisis Ghana has had to contend with.

Ghana have had to go through a difficult run without established first team players like Michael Essien, Stephen Appiah, Sulley Muntari, John Mensah and John Paintsil.

“It’s unbelievable,” said Gyan. “We are a young team and not many people gave us a chance of making the final.”

Gyan’s goal against Nigeria was his third in the competition.
