Asamoah Gyan has completed a permanent switch to Al-Ain in the United Arab Emirates from English side, Sunderland.

Gyan, who spent most of last season on loan to the UAE club and has now committed his long-term future to them by signing a four-year deal.

The 26-year-old Ghana international, who signed a four-year deal when he joined the Black Cats in August 2010, left for Al-Ain his first season at the Stadium of Light.

A Sunderland statement said: "Sunderland AFC can confirm that Ghana international Asamoah Gyan has joined United Arab Emirates side Al-Ain on a permanent deal.

"The striker initially joined the recently-crowned Etisalat Pro-League champions on loan in September 2011 but will now remain in the Gulf state after the clubs agreed undisclosed terms."

Gyan scored 11 goals during what proved to be his only full season with Sunderland.

But a move to the UAE saw the Ghanaian finish as top scorer after hitting 22 goals for Al-Ain last season and helped them to secure the league title.
