The Head of CAF Safety and Security Department, Dr. Christian Emeruwa has applauded the GFA Safety and Security Department for the commitment shown towards an improvement in the safety and security administration in the country.
Speaking as a guest at the Annual Safety and Security Seminar organised by the GFA ahead of the season, the experienced FIFA safety and security officer indicated that GFA must endeavour to continue such engagements and trainings aimed at ensuring safer stadiums for domestic and international competitions in the country.
He entreated the leadership of the Association to continue supporting the vision of the Safety and Security Officer Mr. Julius Ben Emunah who also works as part of CAF's Safety and Security Expert in matches and trainings.
The General Secretary of the Association, Lawyer Prosper Harrisson Addo, in his remarks to the clubs pleaded that clubs must ensure to comply with safety practice at their home venues to protect the integrity and image of the sport.
He further hinted that though reactive, the GFA shall continue punish clubs severely should they breach any of the laid down safety rules.
The safety and security officer of the GFA, Julius Ben Emunah in his presentation indicated that Club CEO's especially have a lot of work to do considering the high rate of Player and Team official related violence and misconduct.
He further took participants through the new GFA safety and security regulations which seeks to serve as a guide and regulator for a new safety and security regime in Ghana.
Acting Chairman of the Safety and Security Committee, LT/COL Donald Asare Bediako took participants through the core duties of Club Safety and Security Officers and their relationship with major stakeholders.
Participants were also oriented on Stewarding by WAFU Zone B Safety and Security Representative DCOP Lydia Donkor.
She took them through the basic training for stewards, qualities to look out for in appointing them and the general deployment plan for stewards. FIFA/CAF Safety and Security Officer, Nick Owusu also took participants through the guiding approaches for protecting players, match officials and VVIPs.
Other issues discussed also includes ticketing and Accreditation.
The seminar was attended by safety and security officers and CEO's of Premier, Division One League and Women's Premier League Clubs.
Also in attendance were Managers of the various competitions and the Compliance and Integrity Officer if the FA.
