Hearts of Oak coach C.K. Akunnor expects his players to work hard to achieve success as he seeks to turn around the club's fortunes.
For all the praise surrounding his appointment last season, the Phobians finished the season with no silverware in both the Premier League and the FA Cup competitions.
Akunnor knows first and foremost he has to get them winning regularly again next season but he says that will only come with effort.
He reminds players who will be retained that they need to show commitment and that is the very minimum he requires from them.
"We have to get down to business right away and the players know that. We are not here to shield players," Akunnor told Hearts News in a post-season assessment.
"They must take responsibility for their own set of performances. Once you stay in this team it means you have worked well because, we are looking at working with only the best and disciplined ones who will help this club achieve its aims."
Akunnor's rebuilding plans has received endorsement from chairman, Togbe Afede XIV, who has confirmed that there is available funds for recruitment.
“The most notably, the need to strengthen our squad. Money to strengthen the squad is not our issue,” the Hearts chairman said.
