Accra Hearts of Oak got off to a winning start in the 2014/2015 First Capital Plus Premier League season after beating WAFA 1-0 at the Kpando Park.
Striker Gilbert Flamenyo scored the first goal of the season after he slotted from Paul Acquah's pass in the 56th minute.
Newly promoted WAFA put up an impressive performance in the first half, holding the Phobians to a 0-0 result as at halftime.
But Coach Herbert Addo's side came out stronger in the second half and were rewarded with a goal 11 minutes into the second half.
Hearts of Oak who are facing a two-match home ban will play their next game away on Wednesday January 21 against Berekum Chelsea.
