Accra Hearts of Oak have ended the painful reign of coach Nebojsa Vucicevic as they seek to resurrect their failing league ambitions.

The Phobians on Friday confirmed that they had terminated their contract with the Serbian coach following weeks of agitation by fans for his dismissal.

“We have parted ways with the coach (Vucicevic) by mutual consent,” Hearts CEO, Fred Crentsil said.

“There have been some agitations of late and we believe the decision reached is in the best interest of the club.”

The former FK Srem manager was appointed Hearts’ coach in February 2011 but his assistant Shaibu Tanko will take interim charge of the team until a substantive coach is appointed.

The Phobians are second on the Glo Premier League standing after 19 games and nine points behind rivals Asante Kotoko.
