Black Princesses attacker Mafia Nyame says she wants to make a mark at her second FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.

The AS FAR player who was part of the Black Princesses squad at the last edition of the World Cup in Costa Rica is raring for more after making only one substitute appearance in the tournament. The former Faith Ladies player says she is excited to be given another opportunity to go to the World Cup and make her mark.

“It is always an honour to be called to the national team to serve the nation wholeheartedly’’ she told ghanafa.org.

“I represented Ghana at the 2022 edition but it didn’t go as planned and this is an opportunity to go and make history. Everyone in camp is doing well to make it in the final squad to the World Cup. There are many talented players here and everyone is putting in extra work''.

“I featured in only one game as a sub in Costa Rica and hopefully if I make it to this year’s World Cup, I’ll go and do well to leave a mark. I believe in this team to make it out of the group stage for the first time in our history. The technical team is doing their best and taking us through series of trainings’’.

“We urge Ghanaians to keep supporting us like they always do and we will continue to make them proud’’ Nyame added.

The Black Princesses will play Austria in their opening match on Monday, September 2 before playing against Japan and New Zealand in the other group E matches.

The FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup is scheduled for Columbia from Saturday, August 31 to Sunday, September 22, 2024.  The Black Princesses of Ghana will be making their seventh consecutive appearance at the World Cup after playing in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020 and 2022.
