Kofi Poku goes home on Saturday February 1

Former Vice-Chairman of the MTN FA Cup Committee, Kofi Poku will be laid to rest on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the Achimota Cemetery. A family delegation of the late football administrator paid a courtesy call on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to officially inform and invite the Association to the final funeral rites scheduled from Friday, January 31 – Sunday, February 2, 2025.

Kofi Poku popularly called ‘Alewa’ passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024 after battling a brief illness. He assumed several positions within the football ecosystem with the last and highest position being the Vice-Chairman of the MTN FA Cup Tournament.

The delegation led by Kofi Poku’s immediate junior brother, Samuel Agyeman said they were tasked by the Family Head, Nana Kitieku to perform the traditional and customary function. He indicated that the final funeral rites will be held at the Wembly Sports Complex at Kotobabi on Saturday, February 1, 2025. Samuel Agyeman went on further to state that the thanksgiving service will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at the Eden Revival Church at Kokomlemle.

Welcoming the Family to the Home of Football (GFA Head Office), General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo (Esq.), officially expressed the Association’s condolences to the Family and assured them that the leadership and staff of the GFA will come and mourn with them.

Other members of the delegation included Irene Afriyie Agyeman (Kofi’s Poku’s younger sister) and Eugene Ansah, close friend to the Kofi Poku and the family. Present during the courtesy call with the General Secretary were Collins Dei, Chief Finance Officer, Obed Tuffour, Compliance and Integrity Officer and Frazier Appeadu Malcolm, Director, GFA Foundation.

He left behind Five (5) children. May his soul Rest In Peace!
