The Ghana Football Association has given its verdicts in relation to a number of cases from recent Premier League matches.
Clubs affected by the conduct of their officials are: Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, AshantiGold, Heart of Lions and Ebusua Dwarfs.
All the cases are related to incidents that happened on match-day-8,9 and 10.
Club charged: Heart of Lions for match-day-8 incident
Case: It was reported that Stephen Ahorlu was cautioned for sprinkling liquid substance on the field of play.
Decision: But upon consideration by the PLB, the caution against Stephen Ahorlu has been withdrawn and Heart of Lions has been fined Five Hundred Ghana Cedis (Gh¢ 500.00) in accordance with Article 35(3)(a) of the Regulations.
Club charged: Asante Kotoko for match-day-8 incident
Case: It was reported that an allegation by Kotoko officials to the effect that Berekum Chelsea players’ had sprinkled some substance on the centre line was denied by officials of Berekum Chelsea. The report further stated that officials of Kumasi Asante Kotoko rather went and brought a bottle of Voltic water and sprinkled it at the alleged place against the GFA Regulations.
Decision: In accordance with Article 35(3a), Kumasi Asante Kotoko is fined Five Hundred Ghana Cedis (Gh¢ 500.00) for sprinkling water on the centre line before the match.
Club charged: Asante Kotoko for match-day-9 incident
Case: It was reported that Kumasi Asante Kotoko failed to turn up for the pre-match technical meeting. The team however reported that its vehicle developed a fault on its way to Kpando in breach of Article 23(3)(b) and Article 17(4) of the GFA Regulations.
Decision: The excuse by Asante Kotoko is untenable and in line with sanctions provided in the GFA Regulations, Kotoko is hereby fined GH¢ 250.00 for failing to attend the pre-match technical meeting without just cause and shall also suffer a further fine of GH¢ 1,250.00 for failing to present its strip at the pre-match technical meeting in accordance with Article 23(3)(b) and 17(4) of the GFA Regulations respectively.
Club charged: New Edubiase for match-day-8 incident
Case: It was reported that supporters of New Edubiase verbally assaulted the match officials during the break.
Decision: In accordance with Article 35(3) (a) of the GFA Regulations New Edubiase is liable to a fine of Five Hundred Ghana Cedis (Gh¢ 500.00).
Club charged: New Edubiase for match-day-10 incident
Case: It was reported that during recess a section of New Edubiase supporters attacked the Referees in the tunnel on their way to the dressing room. It took some time for them to open and enter their dressing room.
Decision: The behavior of New Edubiase contravenes Article 35(3)(c) and fine of Gh¢ 500.00 has been imposed on the club.
Club charged: Ebusua Dwarfs for match-day-10 incident
Case: It was reported that in the 89th minute when the Goalkeeper of Medeama was receiving treatment for an injury fans of the home team (Dwarfs) threw sachet water towards the area where the goalkeeper was receiving treatment.
Decision: In accordance with Article 35(3)(b) of the GFA Regulations, Dwarfs is fined GH¢500.00.
Club charged: Hearts of Oak for match-day-9 incident
Case: It was reported that players’ of Accra Hearts of Oak namely Kwaku Andoh, Selasie Adjei and Hayford Emmanuel verbally attacked the referees after the match.
Decision: In accordance with 35(3)(c), Players, Kwaku Andoh, Selasie Adjei and Hayford Emmanuel of Hearts of Oak are hereby fined Gh¢ 500.00 each.
Club charged: AshantiGold for match-day-10 incident
Case: It was reported that after the second goal by New Edubiase, supporters of AshantiGold pelted the Assistant 1 with sachet water.
Decision: In accordance with Article 35(3) (b) of the GFA Regulations, Ashantigold is fined GH¢500.00.
