Asante Kotoko wrap up top spot in the first round of the Glo Premier League after beating Medeama 2-1 at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Two first half goals from Michael Akuffu, from the spot and Daniel Adjei handed Kotoko a 2-0 lead before Mohammed Bilal pulled one back for the visitors.

In a game of two halves, Kotoko managed to cling onto victory as they dominated the first half with Medeama coming in strongly after the break.

Medeama, deserved a point but near misses robbed them off a share of the spoils as Kotoko now open a four-point lead at the summit.

The defeat was Medeama's 8th of the season as they dropped off the pace and are 10 points off the summit.
