Kotoku Royals end City Stars winning run, Tema Youth beat Susubiribi, and Lions shock Mighty Jets – Zone Three Results
Kotoku Royals have become the first club to end the winning run of Accra City Stars as they beat them 1-0 on Match Day 4 of the Division One League at the Oda Park on Sunday.
In a keenly contested game at Oda Park – the home side showed hunger from the first minute of the game with some eye catching football to make life difficult for the visitor who went into the game with a three match unbeaten run.
Mohammed Deen scored from the spot in the 36th minute for Kotoku Royals as they romped to a win at home to move to 9 points after four matches in Zone three.
Elsewhere in Sogakope – Tema Youth left it late to beat Akyem Susubiribi 3-2 on Saturday. Emmanuel Mamah scored in the 90th minute to condemn Susubribi to their first loss on the road following a blistering start to the campaign.
The visitors put in a brilliant fight as they twice came from behind to level things up; nearly pushing the game into a draw – but the strike from Mamah broke their hearts. Stephen Appiah Asare and Jeremiah Arkorful scored for the Harbour Warriors before Mamah’s winning goal. Tema Youth have now joined Accra City Stars at the top of the table with 9 points.
At the Rovers Park in Tafo – Mighty Jets were shocked by Heart of Lions as the visitors won 2-1 to end their flying start to the season. Akwasi Bentil Duah was the hero for Lions as his late strike gave them a well-deserved win.
