Ghana’s 23-man squad for the African Cup of Nations would be decided after Claude Le Roy sees his Black Stars team through the test game against Al-Nasr today.

The Ghana Football Association has confirmed that the final team for the tournament would be announced after Le Roy completes his work at Ghana’s Abu-Dhabi camp base where the team has been training ahead of the Cup of Nations for a week now.

Ghana plays Dubai-based side, Al-Nasr in a test game today at 14:45 GMT, the first test match for the Black Stars this year.

The stipulated deadline for the submission of squad list for the tournament is today, January 10, and the Black Stars coach, though not in a rush, would only name his squad after the test game as he cuts down the numbers to 23 from a 27-member playing list in camp.

Claude Le Roy’s team plans received a major boost this week with the return to fitness of Laryea Kingston, Asamoah Gyan and Baffour Gyan.

And up until now, the French coach remains satisfied with the preparations and commitment shown by his team.

“The response of the 26 players around is perfect and I am very satisfied with our progress.

“They are very dedicated to what lies ahead and everybody is putting in an effort.

“I have told them that success at the Cup of Nations will be for them and failure will be for me so they all understand the situation perfectly.”
