A star-studded cast is expected as footballing greats of different generations pull on the shirts again in Samuel Osei Kuffour's testimonial on Friday.

The former Ghana star is hosting a testimonial featuring some of the biggest names in African and world football at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi as he brings a colourful playing career to an end.

"I have had a wonderful career and I leave a very happy man - football has been good to me," Kuffour said.

"I feel I gave everything during my playing career whether I was playing for Ghana or for my club and I hope the fans will come out in their numbers to show appreciation for that."

Organisers of the game say a host of big names - many of whom played with and against Kuffour - will be on hand in Kumasi to grace the occasion.

Former Germany stars Lothar Mattheus and Oliver Kahn are scheduled to make an appearance as are former Manchester United striker Andy Cole, Cameroon international Samuel Eto'o and Nigeria legend Jay Jay Okocha.

A three-time Ghana Footballer of the Year, Kuffour, announced his retirement in September 2008 after a career spanning over a decade and having appeared at every tournament organized by FIFA; U-17, U-20, Olympics, World Cup as well as four appearances at the Africa Cup of Nations.

He spent a successful period with Bayen Munich from 1993 to 2005 and won everything there is in club football from the Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League and the Intercontinental Cup.

Kuffour was named by CAF as one of the 30 best African footballers of all time and was twice, 1999 and 2001, runner-up in the Africa footballer of the year award.

He featured for Torino, Bayern Munich, AS Roma, Livorno and Ajax during his playing career.
