Heart of Lions suffered some battering at the Robert Mensah Stadium on Saturday as they lost 4-1 to Ebusua Dwarfs.
It was a day of defeats for the top-two - after Kotoko lost 1-0 to Inter Allies in Accra - as the Kpando side, pushing to consolidate the second Champions League spot also fell to another side battling with relegation.
Dwarfs scored two goals apiece in either half as Lions got their consolation from a penalty.
Joseph Enstil sounded Dwarfs' intent when he opened scoring just after the blast of the whistle connecting a pass from Richard Gadze in the first minute.
Twenty minutes later, Dwarfs doubled their lead, this time through Gadze, who reacted quickest to tap in from close range after goalkeeper Mozart Adjetey had spilled a freekick.
With a two-nil lead, Lions returned from the break determined to pull a goal back but it was Dwarfs who made it three-nil when Frederick Boateng scored in the 75th minute.
Lions were awarded a penalty and Kodzo Edem stepped up to convert from the spot in the 87th minute to reduce the damage.
However in injury time, Boateng was hand again as his second goal of the afternoon sealed the day for Dwarfs.
Despite the victory, Dwarfs remain third from bottom with four games to go.
