Local Organising Committee for WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup holds meeting with WAFU officials ahead of kick off
Ahead of the WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup which commences on Thursday, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) has held a meeting with WAFU B Executive Director, Phillipe Tchere, and other WAFU B officials at the Ghanaman Centre of Excellence at Prampram on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
The primary focus was on preparations and the general expectations for the WAFU B tournament, which is being hosted at the GFA Technical Center for the first time.
The meeting had in attendance, Deputy General Secretary, Ama Brobey Williams, Maxwell Caeser Kemeh from the Competitions Department, Technical Center Director, Winnifred Mawudeku and John Ansah of the Safety and Security Committee.
The all-female Officials of WAFU B included, Coordinators, Match Commissioners, Digital and Media Officers, Referee Assessors and Safe Guarding officials.
Deputy General Secretary, Ama Brobey Williams, welcomed the delegation and assured them that the Ghana Football Association is committed to executing excellence in this inaugural competition.
WAFU B Executive Director, Phillipe Tchere, shared President, Kurt Okraku's vision of inclusivity, creativity, and commitment to excellence and also added that he hopes this developmental tournament will help the various Federations unearth talent at the youth level while preparing for upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Director of the Technical Center, Winnifred Mawudeku, also promised to ensure all teams are comfortable during their stay for the tournament duration. The five countries who accepted to participate in this youth developmental tournament are, Hosts Ghana, Nigeria, Cote d'Ivoire, Niger and Benin.
Ghana's Black Maidens will kick-start their campaign with a game against Benin on Thursday, December 12, 2024. This opening fixture is scheduled for 15:00 GMT (3 pm local time) kick off at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence at Prampram.
