The Malta Guinness Women's Premier League enters match-day 5 this weekend with some interesting fixtures to look out for in the Southern Zone. League leaders, Hasaacas Ladies maintained their unbeaten run after picking up all maximum points away at the Presbyterian Boys Senior High School Park against Thunder Queens. Police Ladies continue to struggle as they lost to Soccer Intellectuals at home. Faith Ladies continued their impressive run by getting all the points against Berry Ladies on matchday four.
Here is what to expect on Match-day 5 in the Southern Zone.
HASAACAS LADIES VRS RIDGE CITY
Debutants Ridge City will travel to the Gyandu Park in Sekondi to play League leaders Hasaacas Ladies. Hasaacas are the only team with a perfect record after match day 4 and will be a tough opponent for Ridge City who are winless in their last four attempts. Doreen Copson of Hasaacas Ladies has scored 4 of the 12 goals scored by her side, the team with the most goals so far. Ridge City gained promotion to the top flight this season but have yet to sparkle in the League after picking only two points from a possible 12 and would have to dig deep to pick a fair result at the Gyandu Park following the impressive start of Hasaacas Ladies in the League.
LADYSTRIKERS VRS POLICE LADIES
Lady Strikers will face Police Ladies who are winless after 4 matchdays and lie bottom of the southern zone table. Lady Strikers dropped points against Essiam Socrates in the regional derby and will look to make amends when they host Police Ladies this weekend. Police Ladies will also look to turn their season around with a good result against the Cape Coast side. Three points separate the two sides as Lady Strikers sit in 8th place with 4 points – two places ahead of Police Ladies who are bottom in the League log.
FAITH LADIES VRS ESSIAM SOCRATES
This will be an interesting fixture with both teams putting up decent performances in the league so far. Faith Ladies picked all three points against Berry Ladies whilst debutants Essiam Socrates drew with Lady Strikers in Mankessim. Essiam Socrates have lost one game and lie 6th on the league table as Faith Ladies lie 2nd with nine points.
BERRY LADIES VRS ARMY LADIES
Another tough game for Berry Ladies who lost their last home fixture to Faith Ladies. Army Ladies come in to this fixture fresh from a win against Ridge City, a result that will boost their confidence going into this weekend’s fixture. Army Ladies can boost of Zinatu Alhassan who has been solid for them in midfield whilst Monica Addai and Abigail Tawiah could prove crucial for Berry Ladies.
SOCCER INTELLECTUALS VRS THUNDERQUEENS
Another crunch game of equals will be witnessed at Mankessim when Soccer Intellectuals clash with Thunder Queens on Friday, November 2. Soccer Intellectuals have bounced back stronger, after dropping points in their previous games as they picked all maximum points against Police Ladies in an away duel. Thunder Queens started the season on a good note but last weekend’s loss to Hasaacas Ladies has affected their placing in the log pushing them to the 5th spot with 5 points – one point richer than Soccer Intellectuals who are in 7th place with 4 points.
