Malta Guinness WPL: Hasaacas Ladies pick late win; Police Ladies share spoils with Essiam Socrates
Police Ladies came from behind to seal a point against debutants, Essiam Socrates Ladies. The home side started the game strongly and were eager to grab the opener as the visitors struggled in the opening minutes. Police Ladies were the better side but couldn’t make it count as the visitors warmed themselves back up in the game. Helen Alormenu made amends for the visitors from a solo effort after she brilliantly run through the Police defense to score the opener in the 43rd minute. Police Ladies continued to pile pressure on the visitors which paid off in the 73rd minute when Mary Berko grabbed the equalizer for the host.
Elsewhere, Ridge City failed to make their home advantage count as they lost at home to Faith Ladies. Faith Ladies scored three goals in the first half through a Maafia Nyame brace and a goal from Portia Nana Prempeh before Ridge City pulled one back through Loretta Afful in the 53rd minute. Maafia Nyame again scored to complete her hat-trick in the 92nd minute to end the game 4:1 in favor of the visitors.
Former Champions Hasaacas Ladies left it late to get all the maximum points against Ladystrikers at home. Gifty Boakye scored early in the first half for the visitors but that didn’t last long as Doris Boaduwaa scored in the 18th minute to draw the host level. Fidous Yakubu scored from the spot in the 95th minute to hand the “Dooo” Ladies the maximum point at home.
