Games will be played across League centres in the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League this weekend as Champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies and giants Hasaacas Ladies aim to continue their dominance in the League after winning their respective matches over the weekend.  Ampem Darkoa Ladies recovered from their 1-1 draw against Northern Ladies to record a remarkable 2-0 win over Prisons Ladies while Hasaacas Ladies whitewashed Essiam Socrates 6-2 to stake a claim in their Zones. Here is what to expect on Matchday three of the 2022/23 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League for the Southern Zone.

HASAACAS LADIES’ VS POLICE LADIES

Hasaacas Ladies hosts Police Ladies at the dreaded Sekondi Gyandu Park on Matchday three of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League. Hasaacas Ladies have already announced their presence in the season by winning all two matches played – 1-0 against Berry Ladies and 6-2 against Essiam Socrates as comfort6ablt sit at the top of the Southern Zone table with a one hundred percent winning record. The team will be looking forward to a win while Police Ladies also hope to get their first win of the season. On record, Police Ladies have never won against Hasaacas at the Gyandu Park. The last meeting between them ended in a draw.

SOCCER INTELLECTUALS’ VS ESSIAM SOCRATES

The Mankessim Astro Turf will come alive again this weekend as Soccer Intellectuals host Essiam Socrates in a derby. Soccer Intellectuals are without a win in two games after suffering a 1-0 loss to Faith Ladies in the opening fixture at Swedru and succumbing 2-0 to Berry Ladies on Matchday two. Newbies, Essiam Socrates Ladies on the other hand recorded an emphatic 3-0 win over fellow newbies Ridge City in their opening game but were obliterated 6-2 by Hasaacas Ladies on match day 2.  Going into the match, Soccer Intellectuals would be seeking to register their first win of the season but Essiam Socrates would also come in stronger to redeem their image after last weekend's humiliation at home.

RIDGE CITY VS THUNDER QUEENS

With only one point after two matches, newcomers Ridge City would hope to put up a spectacular performance to snatch the maximum points from Thunder Queens when they clash in the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League at the Madina Astroturf. Ridge City began their League campaign on a wobbling note after losing 3-0 at home to debutants Essiam Socrates before playing a 0-0 draw with Police Ladies on Matchday two.  The newbies have yet to score a goal in the season and see this as a huge opportunity to get their season back on track. However, it would be a herculean task for Ridge City when they meet Thunder Queens who haven’t lost a match so far in the Southern Zone. Thunder Queens have amassed 4 points after winning one and drawing one in the first two matches. This would be the first meeting between the two sides in the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League.

FAITH LADIES’ VS ARMY LADIES

Faith Ladies lost by a lone goal to Ladystrikers last weekend and will be stepping out this weekend to correct the wrongs against Army Ladies on Matchday three at the Presec School Park.  This will be the 3rd meeting between the two sides in the elite Division with Faith Ladies winning all previous encounters. Army Ladies have had a quick start to the 2022/23 campaign following an emphatic 4-0 win over Cape Coast-based Ladystrikers and a draw against Thunder Queens – taking them to the second spot in the League with 4 points – 2 points behind leaders Hasaacas Ladies who have picked up 6 points in two matches.

LADYSTRIKERS VS BERRY LADIES

Ladystrikers return to the Robert Mensah Stadium on Saturday to play against Berry Ladies on Matchday three. The Strikers, after their 4:0 defeat to Army Ladies bounced back to record a 1-0 away victory over Faith Ladies on Matchday two with defender Deborah Annoh being the hero after netting the match winner. For Berry Ladies, they aptly recovered from the loss to Hasaacas Ladies to beat Soccer Intellectuals 2-0 to set the stage for more. Ladystrikers are hopeful to get a win to  improve their position in the League log.
