Olympique Marseille are yet to decide if they would lodge a complaint to Uefa over the racist abuse on Ghana's Andre Ayew and two other black players of the club during a Uefa Cup game in Russia.

Ghana's Andre Ayew was among the players targeted on Wednesday during the game against Zenit Saint Petersburg in match which Marseille lost 2-0 and meant they were knocked out of the Uefa Cup on away goals.

Andre Ayew, Ronald Zubar and Charles Kabore were targeted by some Russian fans as the trio were warming up on the touchline for the last 16 second round tie.

A spokesman for the French club told the BBC from St Petersburg: "Pape Diouf, the executive chairman of the club, will consider on Friday whether to take action or not."

Meanwhile the director of communication at European football's governing body William Gaillard said Uefa are waiting to decide what action, if any, to take.

"I don't know the circumstances of Marseille's game in Saint Petersburg against Zenit but in this type of case the procedure is to set up a disciplinary inquiry," the Uefa spokesman said.

"The measures we take depend on the seriousness of the incident but Uefa's principle is for zero tolerance towards racism."

"We've already taken tough action in proven cases of racism for there's no place in football for violence, xenophobia or homophobia."
