Hearts of Oak's cutting the lead at the top of the Premier League suffered a hitch on Wednesday following defeat to Medeama in Tarkwa.
The Mauves rallied from a goal down to defeat the Phobians 2-1 at the T&A Park in an outstanding match-day-19 fixture and the win lifts them into the top-four.
Medeama still have a game in hand.
For the Phobians, the loss leaves them 12 points behind rivals, Asante Kotoko with ten matches remaining.
Hearts of Oak drew first blood through Emmanuel Hayford after in the 20th minute of the first half.
But the hosts managed to draw level through Godbless Asamoah, 14 minutes later.
The two sides went into the break with a goal apiece and everything to play for.
However, the winner came late as Medeama scored an 86th minute goal through Kabiru Moro to seal victory.
