Medeama SC finished 7th in the first round of the betPawa Premier League following reasons varying from change of coaches, inconsistent performances away from home and losing some of their key players in the course of the season.
The Tarkwa based side started the season with back to back victories against Legon Cities and Real Tamale United but defeats to Berekum Chelsea, Aduana FC, Great Olympics and Asante Kotoko led to the dismissal of former Coach David Duncan.
The mauves and yellows will face 15th placed Legon Cities on Matchday 18 at the Akoon Park on Friday. Their first leg encounter ended 1-0 in favor of the Medeama SC and they will be hoping to do the double over the Royals.
Medeama SC are unbeaten in their last three games but have lost twice in their last five outings – recording two wins and one draw.
Coach Umar Abdul Rabi’s side drew 0-0 with Tamale City at the Aliu Mahama stadium. The Tarkwa lads lost Rashid Nortey, goalkeeper Kofi Mensah and left back Fatawu Sulemana in the January transfer window but have made some decent purchases with the likes of Jonathan Sowah and Nurudeen Abdulai joining them.
Legon Cities have won once in their last five games - with two defeats and two draws and sit 15th in the League log with 21 points with just one point separating them from 16th placed King Faisal who are in the relegation zone.
Coach Maxwell Konadu will rely on CHAN returnees Jonah Attuquaye and Kofi Kordzi as well as Nii Gyashie Bortey Acquah, Alex Aso and Michel Otou.
Medeama SC would expect Nurudeen Abdulai, Vincent Atinga, captain Kwasi Donsu and new signing, Jonathan Sowah to give them a good start to the second round.
The 3pm kick off fixture will be broadcast live on StarTimes Adepa channel 247.
