MTN Elite U-19: Eastern Region beat Volta as Ashanti round off Matchday 4 with victory over Western
Defending champions Eastern Region produced an impressive performance to secure a 3-1 victory over Volta Region in the opening Group A fixture of Matchday Four at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Saturday.
Eastern Region made a bright start to the contest, taking the lead in the 10th minute through Ransford Siaw, who finished clinically to put the defending champions ahead.
Volta Region responded strongly and restored parity in the 37th minute, with Samuel Maja finding the back of the net to send the two sides into the break level.
Eastern regained the advantage twelve minutes after the restart when Inusah Alhassan struck in the 57th minute, putting the defending champions back in front.
Alhassan capped a fine individual performance by being adjudged Man of the Match, having played a significant role in Eastern Region’s impressive victory.
Ashanti Region rounded off Matchday Four with a convincing 2-0 victory over Western Region in the final Group A fixture at the GFA Technical Hub.
Ashanti continued to control proceedings and put the result beyond doubt in the 82nd minute, when Mohammed Dayvon scored the second goal to secure all three points.
Frimpong capped an impressive individual performance by being adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the match, having played a key role in Ashanti Region’s commanding display.
The MTN Elite U-19 Championship remains an important platform for some of Ghana’s brightest young footballers to develop their technical and tactical abilities while gaining valuable competitive experience that can contribute significantly to their growth and future careers.
