MTN FA Cup Statistics: Road to the Final

The MTN FA Cup has produced some impressive numbers this season, with the final set for Sunday, May 31, at the University of Ghana Stadium.

A total of 108 matches have been played in the competition so far, recording 62 home wins and 46 away wins. The tournament has produced 294 goals, with home teams scoring 169 and away teams netting 125.

Thirty penalties have been awarded, with 24 converted and six missed. The last seven finals have delivered memorable moments. In 2017, Hearts of Oak faced Asante Kotoko at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium but suffered a 3-1 defeat. Hearts of Oak returned to glory in the 2020-21 final, beating AshantiGold SC on penalties before going on to defeat Bechem United 2-1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the 2021-22 final.

Dreams FC reached the final for the first time in the 2022-23 season and secured a 2-0 victory over King Faisal. Nsoatreman FC later lifted the trophy after defeating Bofoakwa Tano on penalties in 2023-24, while the most recent final saw Asante Kotoko beat Golden Kick 2-1 at the University of Ghana Stadium.

This season’s final will see Dreams FC take on Nations FC on Sunday at the University of Ghana Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 6pm.
