Black Stars midfielder Sulley Muntari has become the first Ghanaian since national team mate, Michael Essien, to win the English FA Cup.
Sulley Muntari helped Portsmouth to beat Cardiff City on Saturday in the final at Wembley as the Pompey side recorded their first triumph in the world’s most famous Cup competition since 1939.
The 23 year-old Muntari, who will now be part of the historic Pompey team that will be considered the most successful side in 69 years stepped up to pick his medal spotting a T-shirt with the inscription ‘I love Ghana and a flag to match.’
Nwanko Kanu’s first-half goal proved to be the difference as Portsmouth won the FA Cup against the second-division challengers.
The win caps a brilliant first season for Muntari as Portsmouth book a place in next season’s UEFA Cup.
