The Northern Regional Football Association (NRFA) held its Ordinary Congress in the regional capital of Tamale to usher in the 2024/2025 Season at the weekend.
The Congress held under the theme "Fixing the Fundamentals, Empowering the Grassroots - Harnessing resources and constructive views for the upliftment of Northern Football", took place at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium Conference Hall, on Saturday October 19, 2024.
NRFA Vice Chairman, Mr. Kessie Musah Ibrahim, chaired Congress in the absence of Chairman Alhaji Abu - Hassan Rhyzo with support from the regional Executive Council members. Various representatives made up of Division Two reps, District FA reps and other constituents bodies attended the one day event.
Mr. Kessie Musah Ibrahim commended the GFA President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, for his leadership while applauding the Executive Council for the innovative plans in fixing the fundamentals of the game.
GFA Executive Council member, Mr. Eugene Nobel, who represented Simeon-Okraku, pledged the FA's continued support for the RFAs in the area of officiating fees, logistics, Subvention, monthly allowances for RFA Chairmen, their Vice Chairman, Referees Managers amongst others.
He indicated that the GFA has invested heavily in capacity building at the grassroots level, urging the regional block to commence the mandatory Girls U-13, U-15 and U17 leagues in the districts. Congress deliberated on essential matters that impact regional football, including administrative, developmental, and financial aspects.
The annual gathering also focused on providing a blueprint for organising and executing various competitions across all levels.
These include youth football, women's football, and grassroots initiatives, all aimed at enhancing football development in the Region.
The Northern RFA Division Two league is scheduled to commence on October 25, 2024 at all Leagues and game centers.
