Nsoatreman FC share spoils with Liberty Professionals in DOL Super Cup opener

Newly promoted Premier League side Nsoatreman FC threw away a first half lead to draw 1-1 with Liberty Professionals in the opening match of the Division One League Super Cup at the Kyebi Presbyterian Astro Turf Tuesday afternoon.

The Nsoatre side paraded a well drilled starting lineup that comprised of former Bechem United shot stopper Daniel Afadwu and former Hearts of Oak and King Faisal defender Richard Akrofi. Mohammed Gargo also had in his side captain Charles Asante and Martin Antwi who formerly played for Asante Kotoko and WAFA.

Liberty Professionals was at the brighter side of the game in the early stages of the match but it was Nsoatreman who took the lead inside the 24th minute through Frederick Boateng. The lanky attacker smashed home a beautiful free kick as he rounded up the wall to send the ball into the roof of the net.

Back from recess, Nsoatreman FC were pegged back in the 47th minute after conceding a spot kick that was excellently put away by Daniel Amissah to level matters for Liberty Professionals.

Then on, the tempo of the match dropped but Liberty Professionals kept pressing hard in search of the second goal. Both sides made changes in search of a goal their amounted to nothing as the game ended 1-1 at the Kyebi Presbyterian Astro Turf.

Liberty Professionals will play Ebusua Dwarfs in their next match while Nsoatreman FC face Kotoku Royals FC on Friday, August 19, 2022.
