Obeng Junior strike hands Hearts of Oak win at Tarkwa

Medeama SC suffered yet another home defeat when they fell 1-0 to Accra Hearts of Oak in the betPawa Premier League Matchday 14 encounter at Akoon Park. The win eases the pressure on Hearts of Oak after the MTN FA Cup defeat to Dreams FC.

Kwadwo Obeng Junior scored the only goal of the match in the 34th minute of the first half to grab all the points for the Phobians.

Hearts of Oak went into the break with a 1-0 advantage but Medeama SC came back from recess with more intent as they probed for the leveler.

Nana Banyin Quayson came close in the 48th minute but saw his effort hit the goalpost – a relief for Accra Hearts of Oak.

The Yellow and Mauves kept pushing for the equalizer but Richmond Ayi always came to the rescue of the Phobians as they held on for victory.

 

In the other Saturday game - Abednego Tetteh scored a brace as Bibiani Gold Stars came from behind to beat Tamale City 3-2 at Aliu Mahama stadium on Saturday.

Tetteh who was released by King Faisal on Tuesday, completed his move to Gold Stars and Friday and joined the team for the trip to the north. His addition paid off after he grabbed a brace including a late winner.

Sampson Eduku shot the host into the lead in the 7th minute but the visitors grabbed the equalizer in injury time of the first half through Emmanuel Appau.

Back from the break, Tamale City restored their one goal lead through Sampson Eduku who made it two on the day for the home side.

Abednego Tetteh then scored inside 68 minutes to tie the score-line at 2-2. The former 2015 MTN FA Cup top scorer popped up again with a sublime finish to seal victory for Gold Stars – who extended their unbeaten run to ten matches in all competitions.
