Dominic Oduro says he wants to work hard to ensure that he becomes a regular Ghana player after receiving his first call up into the national team.

The 26 year-old Chicago Fire striker has been included in Goran Stevanovic's 18-man squad for this week's international friendly against Chile at PPL Park in Philadelphia, United States.

Oduro, who scored 12 goals in the previous season and was named the club’s Most Valuable Player has described his debut invitation as 'exciting'.

“It’s really exciting for me,” he said after hearing new of his invitation on Thursday.

“I think as a player its one of your dreams to play for your country. Being called upon is something I’ve been looking forward to for a long time and it really feels like one of my dreams coming true.”

Oduro recognizes the tough competition for places and is keen to give off his best as he prepares to join the rest of the squad on Sunday in Philadelphia ahead of their friendly match on Wednesday at PPL Park.

“I still have to work hard just to keep the calls coming,” he said.

“I don’t want this to be a one-time thing. I’m hoping I’ll go in and perform well and get called in for other upcoming games. I’m blessed to have this opportunity.”
