Okwawu Utd fail in yet another FA Cup attempt

Okwawu United for the second time on the bounce have failed to go past the Round of 64 stage in the MTN FA Cup.

The Soccer Mountaineers lost 4-3 on penalties to fellow Division One campaigners Dormaa Kyenkyenkye at the Agyeman Badu Park on Thursday following a 1-1 draw in full-time.

Okwawu United, former premiership side were FA Cup winners in 1986 when they beat Real Tamale United in the finals but they have failed consecutively in the last two editions of the competition to go beyond the second round.

The Nkawkaw-based side will now turn their focus on securing promotion when the Division One League starts.

In other matches, premiership side, Heart of Lions needed the penalty lottery to eliminate Yagbon Stars 1-4 after drawing goalless in 90 minutes.

King Faisal finished 2-1 winners over Rainbow FC and Hasaacas managed a 1-0 victory against Bolga All Stars.
