Ghana defender John Paintsil insists that he wants to stay at West Ham United despite his limited chances for the Premiership side.

The 26-year-old was a first team starter when he joined West Ham from Israeli side Hapoel Tel Aviv two years ago.

But since the arrival of coach Alan Curbishley last season, Paintsil has struggled to nail down a regular first team start.

Despite this setback, the Black Stars defender is keen on staying at West Ham to fight for his place.

“This is how it works. If you look at the West Ham team everyone is very good and the manager is doing fantastically well.

“Everyone has to wait for his chance to come along. I am still in the line, waiting for the chance to come.”
