John Paintsil will lead Ghana against Chile in today's international friendly in Philadelphia.
The Leicester City defender assumes the role in the absence of John Mensah, who is out injured.
The game will be Ghana's first since their semi-final exit at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations and Paintsil is willing to rally the team, which is missing some key players to victory.
"It is an honour leading Ghana," Paintsil said. "I always feel proud wearing the national shirt."
"Our people expected a lot from us at the Africa Cup of Nations but it couldn't happen but we are here to prove a point and make our fans happy.
“So the match will be tough and an enjoyable one."
