Accra Lions will aim to get back to winning ways when they entertain Medeama SC at the University of Ghana Stadium on Saturday January 25, 2025.
Lions are stuck at the bottom of the table with just 13 points- the least in the league after match day 17. They’ve suffered three consecutive defeats in the last five outings (W1, D1, L3), having scored 10 and conceded 18.
They go into this game on the heels of back-to-back defeats in their previous two home fixtures and have conceded the most goals at home (11). Lions will be eager to secure their third home victory this season.
Concern is growing at Medeama as their 2-1 loss at Berekum Chelsea last weekend was their fifth defeat in the league this season. That leaves them seven points below leaders Gold Stars FC heading into this fixture. The Mauve and Yellow have won one, drawn two and suffered two defeats in the last five outings, having scored 17 and conceded 15. They’ve amassed 26 points and are currently occupying the 7th place in the league table.
They are the fifth best away side despite the inconsistencies in their recent performance. Evans Adotey’s men will be desperate to bounce back to winning ways on Sunday.
Accra Lions have played Medeama SC three times at home in the league since 2021/22 season with Accra Lions winning all.
In the 2021/22 season, Accra Lions beat Medeama SC 1-0, won 4-2 in the 2022/23 season and recorded a 1-0 win again in the 2023/24 season.
