President Mills extols Satellites' quality

President of the nation, John Evans Atta Mills extols the qualities of new Under-20 World Champions, the Black Satellites as he welcomed them to the seat of government on Monday.

The team showed off the World title plus two individual awards - the adidas Golden Ball and Golden Shoe - picked up by Dominic Adiyiah to the President and his Vice, other members of government and the diplomatic community all gathered at the Castle.

Ghana, playing with ten men for 83 minutes out of the 120 minutes of the game which went into extra-time with no goals clinched their first world title after two previous failed attempts in a 4-3 penalty shoot out victory against Brazil in the final in Cairo last Friday.

The Black Satellites became the first African side to win the trophy.

President Mills after receiving the team informed the gathering that government will announce a package later and promised “something substantial" will be provided as reward.

The President expressed the country’s appreciation to the Black Satellites and their handlers for the hardwork and victory whiles also commending the Ghana Football Association.

“We believe that everything Ghanaian has to be supported.

“The victory of the Satellites shows that Africa is ready to unite and take its rightful place in the world,” the President said.
