Shoring up their points tally before the turn of the year will be the task for all 16 Premier League sides as the season reaches the halfway stage this weekend.

The concluding fixtures of the first round is expected to produces lots of thrills with champions Asante Kotoko set to finish the first half of the campaign in the lead.

Match action begins on Saturday at the T&A Park where Medeama welcome bottom side, Inter-Allies in a 15:15GMT live broadcast match on SuperSport.

The Mauves suffered a shock 4-1 defeat away to Kotoko in their last fixture, a loss which has cost them a top-four place but being at home, Medeama will be eager to put things right.

Then on Sunday, seven games will be rolled out with the weekend's top-liner between Ebusua Dwarfs and Kotoko dominating the day's fixtures.

Though Kotoko sit comfortably at the summit, they will be pushing to maintain or extend their six-point lead when they play second-from-bottom, Dwarfs at the Robert Mensah Stadium at 15:15GMT.

Hearts of Oak's chase of their rivals - Kotoko - will continue at the Wa Park where they meet stuttering Wa All Stars, whose inconsistent run has plunged them into the relegation zone.

Elsewhere on a busy weekend, another side chasing the top, AshantiGold will attempt to mount a descent challenge when Berekum Chelsea come visiting at the Len Clay Stadium.

In Accra, Liberty Professionals will try to tame the a resurgent Heart of Lions side, who are one of the best sides in the first round of the season.

King Faisal's hopes of escaping the life in the bottom ranks of the table will be put to test at the Baba Yara Stadium with the visit of Bechem United.

Aduana Stars will host New Edubiase at the Agyemang Badu Park while Amidaus Professionals wrap up the fixture list with a home game at the Tema Stadium against Hasaacas.
