Promising talents from Catch Them Young referees policy to officiate in Division One League
Products of the Catch Them Young referees policy will soon officiate in the Access Bank Division One League after four years of training and evaluation.
Over two thousand young referees who were scouted across the ten football regions have undergone training and retraining at the regional level and also at the Technical Centre in Prampram since the inception of the policy.
These young referees have been officiating matches at the District and Regional levels for the past four years and have been predominantly taken charge of our off season competitions including the Division One League Super Cup, the KGL U-17 inter regional championship, the Women’s Premier Super Cup among others.
“Refereeing like we all know has been a big challenge. We introduced the Catch them young referees’ policy four years ago and as we speak, over two thousand boys and girls have been trained. Some of these promising talents will find themselves in Division One League games and in the Premier Leagues next season. Indeed, our first five professional referees will come from the scheme at beginning of the next football season”. President Simeon-Okraku stressed.
The Ghana Football Association believes development and recognition of these young referees are essential steps in ensuring the continued growth and excellence of refereeing in Ghana.
