Regional Women’s Championship Playoff: FC Epiphany Warriors unbeaten, Mfantseman Royals, Rootz Sistaz sink further

Game day four in the Southern Zone saw Halifax Queens ensuring they keep hopes of gaining promotion to the Malta Guinness Premier League, after they registered a 1-0 win over Rootz Sistaz.

Rootz Sistaz bossed possession early in the game were most vulnerable on the break and Halifax Queens with the better of the chances had them punished.

Salamatu Mohammed’s 48th minute winner at the WAFA Park means her side has amassed 9 points and well placed in the race with one more game at hand .

Elsewhere in the second game between Luta Thunder Ladies and Mfantseman Royals, Eva Odin Amoako fired Luta Thunder Ladies ahead on the 7th minute and equally added a second on the 26th minute after capitalizing on a defensive mistake.

After recess, Mfantseman Royal’s goalkeeper, Joyce Quansah tie things up for her opponent by gifting them an own goal on the 73rd minute mark.

Lordina Sam squeezed in a consolation goal on the 78th minute for Mfantseman Royals but could not salvage the situation as the team records its second successive defeat.

The final game of the day between FC Epiphany Warriors was a delight to watch especially when Diana Abu capitalized on a one-on-one with goalkeeper, Lawrencia Arimah at an angle and shot straight at her blunt side to give Epiphany the lead on the 19th minute mark.

Two more goal ls from Captain Gifty Acheampong and Precious Peprah on 50th and 57th minutes deepened the worsen of FC Sarmatex Ladies before Jennifer Darwah added the match winner on the 69th minute.

FC Epiphany Warriors with a game at hand have gain promotion to the women’s elite league with 12 points and remain undefeated.

However the game between Halifax Queens ( 2nd place) and Luta Thunder Ladies ( 3rd place) will determined who grabs the second qualification spot.

The last group fixtures are scheduled for Friday 21st June,2024 at the Sogakope Park.
