Road to 2026/2027 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League kicks off in Tamale

The road to the 2026/2027 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League kicked off at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium with the GFA Regional Women’s Championship.

Six teams have qualified for the middle league, where the top two clubs after the tournament will gain promotion to the Northern Zone of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League.

Bolga Sharp Arrows and Dormaa Candy Soccer got the competition underway with the first game of the day. Candy Soccer opened the scoring through Priscilla Nyarko in the 26th minute, but their lead was canceled out when Joyce Awane equalized for the hosts.

Michelle Yaa scored a brilliant solo effort just before halftime to restore Candy Soccer’s lead. Belinda Tabua added another for the visitors to seal a 3-1 victory in favour of Candy Soccer Academy.

Nasara Ladies and Supreme Ladies battled it out in a fiercely contested match, with both sides creating chances in the first half.

Charity Obenewaa scored in the final minutes of the first half to give Supreme Ladies the advantage heading into the break.

Monica Afriyie extended their lead in the 69th minute, but Stella Kurupoka pulled one back for Nasara Ladies. The game ended 2-1 in favour of the Kumasi-based side.

Dakpemah Ladies were the biggest winners of the day, thrashing Chiewia Ladies 6-0 to end Matchday One on a high note.

Rashida Alidu scored five goals, with Umul Khaira Mashud adding the other for the hosts. Matchday Two fixtures will move to the Tolon AstroTurf on Sunday, May 17, 2026.
