Savannah Ladies, Sung Shinning Ladies win big in Regional Women’s Championship

Candy Soccer Academy came from behind to beat Nasara Ladies for their second win in the ongoing Regional Division One Women’s championship.

Nasara Ladies scored the first goal in the 13th minute through Fuseina Baba who chipped the ball over the goalkeeper after a defensive blunder.

But Candy Soccer Academy fought worked hard as they equalised through Benedicta Amponsah to end the first half 1:1.

After recess, Candy Soccer pushed for the lead which was ruled for offside.

Perpetual Tuah’s solo run on the right flank found Priscilla Nyarko who placed the ball into the bottom corner to give Candy Soccer the lead.

The Dorma based club held on to record their second win in the competition.

In the day's second game, FC Savannah continued their dominance after thrashing Bolga All Stars Ladies 8:1 for their third consecutive win in the competition as they scored four goals in each half to go top of the table with nine points.

Issah Amama and Daragati Yussif scored a brace each in the first half. Zainab Shani, Tina Asiedu, Sakina Abdul Hanan and Asana Ibrahim registered their names on the score sheet before Sakina Fatawu pulled one back for Bolga All stars Ladies, five minutes from time.

Meanehile former Premier League side Fabulous Ladies suffered yet another defeat in the competition as they crashed 4:0 by Sung Shinning Star Ladies. The Kumasi based side started as the better side but couldn’t take their chances. Gladys Salifu punished Fabulous Ladies by pouncing on a loose ball from the goalkeeper to slot home for the openeing goal. The attacker added to the tally in the 56th minute before Immaculate Bagara and Manasseh Junior scored within three minutes to wrap up an eventful 4:0 win.

The result leaves Fabulous Ladies bottom of the table with no point whilst Sung Shinning Ladies go second with nine points.
