The Association (GFA) has taken a significant step towards improving the safety and well-being of young footballers by conducting a comprehensive safeguarding and integrity training for scouts from five southern sector regions of Ghana, namely Greater Accra, Central, Western, Eastern and Volta Regions.

As part of its mandate, the association is committed to training scouts with technical expertise on handling and nurturing young talents. This initiative justifies  the association’s commitment in fostering a safe environment free from all forms of abuse and harm in Ghanaian football, particularly for young players.

The training covered areas such as creating safe spaces for young footballers and player protection which aimed at educating scouts on how to protect young players from agents who are in to exploit them.

This initiative, which aligns with FIFA and CAF’s effort to prioritise youth protection in sports, was led by Obed Tuffuor, the Safeguarding officer who strongly believes in the need to highlight the importance of safeguarding young players and promoting both excellence and safety in Ghanaian football.

He stated that the GFA remains committed to expanding these safeguarding initiatives across all regions of Ghana. “this training is just one step in a broader effort to uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and integrity in Ghanaian football.’
