The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association has found Real Sportive guilty for fielding an unqualified player in their league game against Zaytuna FC.
According to decision, Real Sportive player Joel Adjei’s registration had expired before they played Zaytuna on match-day-26 in the OneTouch Premier League on 18th June, 2008 in Tema.
By the ruling, Real Sportive are declared losers of that game and thus lose three points while Zaytuna are credited with three points and three goals.
Zaytuna lost the game in Tema 1-0 but lodged a protest questioning the eligibility of Sportive player, Joel Adjei.
The latest ruling condemns Real Sportive to relegation from the Premier League even before Sunday’s final round of games.
Real Sportive were also fined GH¢400 of which GH¢200 would be awarded to Zaytuna FC.
The Tema side joins Great Olympics but the final relegation place will be decided on Sunday.
DECISION:
For the above reasons the committee after a critical evaluation of the evidence has decided as follows:
1. That when Real Sportive played Zaytuna in the One Touch Premier League match on 18th June, 2008 in Tema player Joel Adjei’s registration had expired.
2. That Joel Adjei was thus unqualified to play in the said match.
3. That in accordance with Article 34 (1) (g) Real Sportive have therefore committed an offence punishable by forfeiture of the match.
4. That in accordance with Article 34 (2) Real Sportive are declared losers of the match played on 18th June, 2008 and accordingly 3 points and 3 goals are awarded to Zaytuna.
5. Furthermore in accordance with Article 34 (5) (a) Real Sportive shall lose 3 points from its accumulated points.
6. Real Sportive is also fined GH¢400 and GH¢200 of this amount should be paid to Zaytuna F/C. In addition the transportation expenses of Zaytuna to be calculated by the GFA shall be paid by Real Sportive.
