Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, Fred Pappoe insists the Black Stars will be playing for a win against Mali as Ghana looks to end their qualification campaign on a high.

Ghana has already wrapped up places at both the 2010 Nations Cup and the World Cup from Group D having lost just a game ahead of the match at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.

Though the outcome of the match might have little value for Ghana, Fred Pappoe who also chairs the Black Stars management committee says a win is essential to shore up the Back Stars’ position on the ranking table ahead of next month’s final draw of the 2010 Fifa World Cup.

“We lose three points, we lose very vital ranking points that will be crucial for the draw of the Nations Cup and World Cup,” Fred Pappoe said.

Ghana after managing four clean sheets in the qualifiers suffered a first defeat away to Benin in the penultimate match but the Vice President says the Black Stars are keen to maintain their eight-year unbeaten home run in Kumasi.

“If we lose we also lose our pride and integrity as a national team because since 2001 the Black Stars has not lost a competitive match at home. For us this is an extremely important match.”
