Ghana will not only be attempting to secure their spot in the finals of the 2012 African Nations Cup but will also join the solidarity campaign in support of the “Horn of Africa” during Saturday’s final qualifier against Sudan.

Messages will be read on the final day of qualifiers in all matches after Caf's Executive Committee at its meeting on September 29, 2011 approved $200,000 to help victims of drought in the region and decreed that the final group matches of the 2012 CAN qualifiers will be devoted to the advocacy.

Black Stars captain John Mensah will read a message before kick off of the Group I fixture at the Hilal Stadium in Omdurman while the leader of the Desert Hawks also does same.

"Captains of the two teams will read out the message in their respective languages after the national anthems in the campaign dubbed “CAF Against Hunger - Support the Horn of Africa," Caf said in a statement.

The Confederation of African Football says the messages from the two sides will signify the support of the African football family towards the “Horn of Africa”.

Ghana, who are top in the group and lead their opponents on goal difference, need just a point to earn their place in the finals next year.
