Goran Stevanovic understands that the pressure to deliver the African Nations Cup title is building up as the continent counts down to the kick-off on Saturday.
As the Black Stars prepare for the final warm up game against South African local side, Platinum Stars on Wednesday, Stevanovic continues to sense that the long wait could be over.
Ghana hasn’t been crowned African champion since 1982 but the Black Stars coach says he has picked a squad on “individual quality, character, strong personality and a winning mentality” and are capable of ending a run of near-misses.
And with days before Ghana opens its Group D campaign against Botswana next Tuesday, Stevanovic says he has assembled a squad with the mentality to win a fifth title.
"Their commitment, approach to the training sessions is fantastic and I speak with them every day and give them confidence. I am sure after the first game Ghana will show the people of the world that we are really really favourites for this tournament," he said.
