The Association reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the well-being of young players by organizing comprehensive anti-trafficking and safeguarding awareness sessions during the African Schools Football Championship 2024.
This proactive initiative aimed to educate male and female U15 players on recognizing potential risks and understanding how to protect themselves from exploitation and abuse.
The Ghana FA’s Safeguarding Officer, Obed Tuffour, alongside WAFU Zone B Safeguarding Officers Bienvenu Sinko, Elizabeth Tall, and Mr. Ralph, led the training sessions.
Key topics covered included identifying fake agents, understanding the scheme used to lure young players into exploitative contracts, and navigating these challenges with caution and awareness.
Obed Tuffour provided detailed guidance on the various types of abuse—physical, emotional, sexual, and neglect—and stressed the importance of reporting mechanisms.
“We want our players to enjoy the game without fear or worry. By equipping them with the necessary tools and knowledge, we empower them to make informed decisions and seek help when needed,” he stated.
