Vice-president of the Ghana Football Association Fred Pappoe says the FA does not doubt the veracity of the medical reports received for Sulley Muntari prior to the Black Stars' 2010 World Cup qualifying game against Mali last Sunday.
The Inter Milan player sat out of that particular game due to injury while playing for the Italian champions on the final day of the season.
Muntari subsequently had to pull out of the squad for the Mali game and has since come under a barrage of attack, mainly on radio with some questioning the midfielders commitment to the Ghana team.
But the Fred Pappoe says as far as the Ghana Football Association is concerned the player missed the game for genuine reasons.
“We have maintained that Muntari did not come to play because he is injured. He gave us the scans and every document to back that up and is in now in France for treatment. You have to differentiate between what we put out officially and rumours.
“We have never had any doubts that the player simply did not want to come and play.”
